The Department of French and Italian in the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Italian with a specialization in Film and Media Studies. The anticipated start date is August 15, 2020. Preference will be given to candidates with proven interdisciplinary interests in fields such as environmental studies, Mediterranean studies, popular cultural studies, fashion studies, food studies, gender and sexuality studies, postcolonial studies, the digital humanities, disability studies, or performance studies. We seek a colleague who will: develop general education courses that appeal to a wide and diverse student body; contribute to one or more of our existing departmental strengths in screen and performance studies, popular and material cultures, or migration studies; contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives across campus relating to their research and teaching areas, including the Film Studies Program; and be instrumental in our department’s PhD programs. Teaching duties include graduate and undergraduate courses in English and Italian, including large-enrollment general education film and media courses in English. Qualifications: A demonstrated record or potential for innovation and excellence in teaching and research; native or near-native proficiency in English and Italian; PhD in Italian, film and media studies, or a related field required at time of appointment (August 15, 2020).
